ingatkah kita

ingatkah kita
dahulunya ada
z'man keg'milangan negeri Melaka
di mana sultan bertakhta
negara makmur dan bahagia

ingatkah kita
datangnya penjajah
dihina, dibelasah, tiada merdeka

ingatkah kita
bersatu teguh semua
tuntut dari mereka
kebebasan kita - negara Malaysia

masih ingatkah kita
sumpah taat setia
penuhi rasa sayang and cinta
semua kaum bersatu hati sejiwa
'tuk kemakmuran negara Malaysia

Ingatlah Kita, S'lamat Hari Malaysia

am into it this year

I was really hyped up the past few years when it comes to this season of the year. yeah, some might persevere through and really commit themselves into it. i was too. BUT (there's always a 'but') i always stop half way. it was because i was reflecting on this matter that made me come into my sense that i'm really no good when it comes to commitment/self-control etc. you may have a LOL-moment but i think this year, i wanna make a difference.

this year's 40-day fast & pray, I'm gonna make it! watch me (: what to fast? for obvious reasons, i cant fast food. i think it's high time for me to fast technology! [any form of tech stuffs - internet, facebook, twitter, msn etc.] (: i can see the looks on my mama's face when she reads this.. "YESSHH!" she'll rejoice. i'll still come online, but seldom (: if you see me on facebook, you'd better make sure i'm posting good/encouraging stuffs about my fast! (: i'll make reshan do that - he'll be my reminder. lol... and of cause, my other-half. :P i won't forget to include ya, eeleng

so, yeap! to be sincere about it, i'm starting 7 days ahead of everyone else! LOL wish me luck yo!

happy mendela day

"during my lifetime, i have dedicated myself to the struggle of the African people. i have fought against white domination and i have fought against black domination. i have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. it is an ideal which i hope to love for and to achieve. But if need be, it is an ideal for which i am prepared to die for... "
~ Nelson Mendela, April 20, 1964 @ Pretoria Supreme Court

i read this and it caught my attention. even as our very own national day's approaching, i think this is a very good reminder for us (myself, especially) to embrace the independence we've got and the privilege to even live in a multi-racial, multi-cultural country where you can eat nasi lemak with roti canai, alongside some half-boiled eggs for breakfast and no one would be surprised to see that! to be amongst people that aren't our own. to live in a neighbourhood where both the neighbours can be of a different skin colour. to go to school with friends that are from different backgrounds. to learn to even eat with our hands! (: to be our brothers and sisters' keeper.

i'm enjoying everything that is in our country and am grateful for what the independence fighters have fought for us. are you?

aku masih ingat hujan yang berenyaian pada hari itu

~
like the touch of rain she was
on a man's flesh and hair and eyes
when the joy of walking thus
has taken him by surprise:

with the love of the storms he burns,
he sings, he laughs, well I know how,
but forgets when he returns
as I shall not forget her "Go now".

those two words shut the door
between me and the blessed rain
that was never shut before
and will never open again.

~Edward Thomas, "Like the Touch of Rain"

Just realised today wasn't really my day and I can't help but to reminisce 'bout lots and lots of things . . .

aku sedar bahawa semuanya t'lah menjadi sejarah dalam hidupku. engkaulah sebahagian kisah ceritaku dan aku tetap sayang padamu, walau apa-apa jua.
